Cut-resistant trousers contain a special, multi-layered cut-resistant material that blocks the chainsaw chain within 0.2 seconds in an emergency. STRAUSS Class 1 cut-resistant trousers provide protection at chain speeds of up to 20 m/s.
In cut-resistant trousers of Type A, the cut-resistant material is incorporated into the front of the trousers from the hips downwards.
Are there also trousers with a higher cut-resistance class?
Yes, there are cut-resistant trousers with higher cut-resistance classes. These are usually offered by specialist suppliers. However, Class 1 covers most applications in forestry operations and in the private sector.
Are there other styles of cut-resistant trousers besides Style A?
In addition to the most widely used Style A, there is also Style C, which features all-round protection. Cut-resistant trousers in Style C are used, for example, by emergency and rescue services, as they handle chainsaws in exceptional situations. Type C is not generally used in normal professional or private forestry work, as these trousers are very stiff and offer insufficient comfort for prolonged use. Type B, as an intermediate solution, has not established itself on the market.
